Noni Madueke, an England winger, has been acquired by Arsenal from Chelsea for an initial payment of £48.5 million. The 23-year-old left Chelsea's camp prior to last Sunday's 3-0 victory over Paris St. Germain in the final to complete his transfer to Mikel Arteta's team. He was a member of Chelsea's team that competed in the Club World Cup in the United States. Madueke has agreed to a five-year deal at Emirates Stadium, with an additional fee of just over £50 million. "Proud and humbled to be here. On Instagram, he wrote, "Thank you to everyone who made this possible." "I can't wait to take the field and begin to earn back the trust shown in me. It will be truly exceptional." After signing for £30 million from PSV Eindhoven in January 2023, he made 92 appearances and scored 20 goals for Chelsea, which won the Conference League last season. Before spending four and a half years in the Netherlands, where he won the Dutch Cup, he was a member of the academy at Tottenham and then Crystal Palace. Madueke made his senior debut for England in August 2024 and helped Harry Kane score the winning goal as England defeated Andorra 1-0 last month to qualify for the World Cup. "Noni is an exciting and powerful young player, with his performances and numbers in recent seasons being of consistently high quality," Arteta stated to Arsenal's website, external. He is one of the Premier League's most talented wide forwards. "At the age of 23, Noni already has experience playing club and international football, and he is very familiar with the Premier League. "We're really excited that Noni will be joining us because we've seen the quality of his performances in recent seasons up close. Our team will greatly benefit from his arrival. A portion of Arsenal supporters had reacted negatively earlier this month when they learned that the Chelsea winger was the subject of an interest from the Gunners. More than 5,000 people signed the petition #NoToMadueke, and "Arteta out" graffiti was painted on murals outside the club's Emirates Stadium. Following the arrival of Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, Madueke becomes Arsenal's fourth summer signing. The club is close to signing Sporting striker Viktor Gyokeres and Valencia defender Cristhian Mosquera, as well as Brentford midfielders Christian Norgaard and Real Sociedad's Martin Zubimendi.
